EXO
Delving into boundaries between bodies, EXO explores garment as initial site of social interface. A margin emerges that is literal in its physicality as well as intangible in its personal, psychological depths. Upon the body's surface, a superficial layer floats on the inner self contained within. Structures emerge, built to protect and shield from the outside elements.

INTERCHANGE
Adopting cues from activewear, InterChange attempts to delineate a context for examination of male beauty. The collection situates the discussion within the confines of gym culture, a locale where discussions of male form and beauty are traditionally considered socially appropriate. Through material and form, InterChange questions the subtext of these dialogues and connections.

÷ Obelus engages garment as a mutable structure evocative of the tensions inherent within the pursuit of human interactions. Single pieces can be worn by an individual in multiple permutations or can be embodied by two people at once. Garment becomes the instigator of a relationship, a confluence of two bodies. Ultimately, the struggles and strains of these evolving entities lead to separation and the return to individual pieces, bearing evidence of the process.

ABOUT
+adamvaneeckhout
Adam van Eeckhout positions his work within fashion, installation, and performance. He explores territories of the in-between, the ephemeral spans separating one and his surroundings.Utilizing garment as both metaphor and tool for visual thinking, van Eeckhout questions established constructs. He surfaces the possibility for interstitial modes of identity arising from inabilities to accurately categorize. It is an imperfect order derived from perfect chaos.Trained as a competitive figure skater for 22 years, van Eeckhout combines his comprehensive awareness of the body and its physiology with a keen sensibility for corporeal aesthetics.Previously, van Eeckhout was on the faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a fashion instructor.Van Eeckhout holds a Master of Design in Fashion, Body, & Garment from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Electronic Media Arts Design from the University of Denver. His work has been exhibited at various institutions across the United States including The Cable Center and Denver Public LIbrary, Denver, Colorado; Gene Siskel Film Center and Zhou B. Art Center, Chicago, Illinois; and Herald Square, Eventi Hotel multimedia art screen, New York, New York.
